Lifestyle Basics

Healthy living, community involvement, and an active lifestyle are important choices that we make on a daily and weekly basis

The Salt Lake City area has a number of fun places to shop, visit, and enjoy an evening out. Some of my favority include Litza's Pizza, City Creek, and of course, all the many incredible chocolate stores.

The area also has some wonderful hiking spots located up and down the valley, including Bell Canyon!

Around the Area

Bell Canyon

Hiking the complete trail is for the more adventuresome, i.e., sections will likely require some serious huffing & puffing even for the experienced!

Love the trail -- the stream is beautiful and once you get up the hill, the view of the valley is striking.

Bell Canyon overlooks the city of Sandy on the east side of the valley, and runs east past the lower reservoir, the first waterfall, and finally to the upper reservoir. Altogether, the trail is about 4 miles and pretty strenuous past the first waterfall.

The hike to first reservoir is a little more forgiving, about 3/4 of a mile, with enough elevation to keep it interesting. I've seen many children on the trail, although not so many toddlers.

The trail crosses a stream along the way which can be swollen in early spring from snow melt and rains. This part of the trail can be shaded in parts, cool and refreshing, and one of those areas that children seem to like.

Entrance

Trail entrance is located about 10245 South on Wasatch Blvd with ample parking most of the year.

It does take some work to get up to the upper level reservoir, but once there (and along the way) the view of the valley, mountains, & reservoir is quite impressive!
